From Wirra Wirra’s own biodynamically farmed Chook Block Vineyard planted in 1960, there comes from time to time very small parcels of exceptionally intense, high quality fruit. In the very best years this fruit is vinified separately to create wines of unique interest, they are released in tiny quantities under this simple and unpretentious label… Chook Block.

PALATE
Full bodied, integrated
Air-dried plums, blackberry and rare roast beef. A generous, robust palate
with fine-grained tannins, dried thyme, Sopressa and a clean ferrous finish.
Mulberry, dry aged bresaola and balsamic glaze. Complex fragrant layers of black peppercorns and star anise.
OAK MATURATION
Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (18% new).
VINIFICATION
Hand-harvested by the Wirra Wirra staff at optimal tannin and flavour ripeness, this unique parcel was crushed and destemmed to a single open fermenter.
