Description

Henschke Henry’s Seven shiraz blend

Deep crimson with magenta hues. Fragrant aromas of red currant, raspberry, blueberry and plum with spicy lifts of bay leaf, sage, black pepper and nutmeg. The juicy supple palate is rich and textured with spicy berry fruits, and well-balanced by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins for a long, elegant finish.

” Shiraz is from the vineyard diagonally opposite Hill of Grace, ‘Schillings’, on the other side of the church. Young vines, taken from Hill of Grace stock in the early 2000s. Grenache is from the Valley floor, and mataro from estate Valley floor vines. This is precisely what Barossa blends are about. Shiraz always takes a strong lead role in Henry’s (almost three-quarters here) but the vines are young and the fruit precocious, so grenache, mataro and even a dribble of co-fermented viognier play well about their weight in building a supple, spicy and juicy style of amiable appeal. Just the right amount of dried herb and greengage plum character and finely textured tannins keep things serious on the finish. Delicious!”
